2010 NAHA Finalists Include Two from Paul Mitchell Schools

Paul Mitchell Schools are pleased to announce that two finalists in the Professional Beauty Association’s 2010 North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) are from Paul Mitchell Schools.
Ashley Hall, a Future Professional at Paul Mitchell The School – Santa Barbara, was named as a finalist in the Student Hairstylist of the Year category. Students are judged on their creativity, versatility, and expertise in hairstyling.
Shawn Trujillo and Angie Katsanevas, owners of Lunatic Fringe Salons and Paul Mitchell The School – Salt Lake City, were selected as finalists in the new Salon MBA category. This marks the inaugural year for the Salon MBA award, which was designed to recognize savvy salon owners who have cultivated a cutting-edge salon and a highly profitable business.

Lunatic Fringe Salons was named along with the Charles Penzone Salons of Columbus, Ohio; Atelier Aveda Salonspa in San Jose, California; Rejuvenation Spa in Madison, Wisconsin; and Mane Attraction of Phoenix, Arizona.

Announcing a total of 65 finalists in 13 categories, NAHA is known as the pinnacle of beauty competitions in North America, where only the top stylists and leaders in the beauty industry are recognized for their talent and skill. NAHA 2010 winners will be announced on July 18, 2010, during PBA Beauty Week: Las Vegas at a star-studded awards ceremony at the Mandalay Bay Resort.
Enjoying another year of growth, the NAHA competition received over 700 entries by beauty professionals from across North America, truly demonstrating the magnitude of the event. Via a blind entry process and judged by a diverse group of leading international hairstylists and makeup artists from across the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, and Switzerland, entries were narrowed down to five finalists per category, and one winner in each category will be chosen. Judges included distinguished beauty professionals Vivienne Mackinder, Tabatha Coffey, Ruth Roche, Sally Hershberger, Mary Brunetti, Darren Bain, Robert Lobetta, Nick Arrojo, Karg, Antoinette Beenders, Dean Banowetz, Nicholas French, Sam Brocato, Anthony Morrison, Mark Hayes, Sharon Blaine, Jane Wild, Petra Strand, and several others.
